6 things I patched to my niche site to make things

6 things I patched to my niche site to make things

As you had already know, I failed my niche site and I am still finding ideas on how I can make it rank better in search engine.

While I am still working on that, there are certain things that I had already done to my niche site.

They are not big things like getting 10,000 visitor or ranking on page 1 of Google but at least I am seeing my site within 10 pages of Google.

What happened previously was I can’t even find my niche site even I tried browsing up to 30 pages although I am sure it is already indexed because I checked with ‘site:my_niche_site.com’.

Although it is not a big deal here but at least it motivates me a little. If you are feeling lost as well, go ahead and read what I had done.

6 things that I had done

1. Stop link building from web 2.0 and article directories.

The strategy of building link previously is to create a super post at Web 2.0 sites. One of my biggest failure is to rely on Squidoo because it is a high authority site but the downside which I did not expect was Squidoo will penalize your lens if the quality is low.

So, what happened was I had several of my lens penalized and the punishment is to de-index my lens from search engine. What really happened? Read the next thing that I had done.

2. Stop creating links to my web 2.0 and article directories.

One of the reason that Squidoo punish my lens is because I had too many dofollow links to my lens. That is true because I used the UAW service to send lots of links to my lens daily.

As a result, I stopped subscribing to UAW and stopped linking to my super post. So, if you ask me now, I really can’t see the long term benefit of UAW. However, since there are many who had successfully build their niche site with UAW, I guess I am just the one who still had not find a formula to do so.

3. Start publishing guest post.

My initial plan for my niche site does not include guest posting. The reasons are:

  • Some blog owners don’t reply to your request.
  • Some take too long time to review.
  • Some take too long to publish after approval.
  • Searching for blog to do guest post will take some time.

However, things changed because Guest Posting seems to be the only good strategy to build links now. So from now on, I will put my focus in writing guest post until new link building strategy is found.

4. Start publishing own post.

My plan to create a niche site is to have passive income and the way I define passive income here is not to do anything but still have cash flowing in. It seems like my definition is wrong.

Google loves fresh content and if I don’t have fresh content, I will have bad SEO. So, I planned to start publishing more post on my own niche site. It does not has to be frequent. It only needs to be regular.

The conclusion is, I plan to post weekly on my niche site.

5. Start creating Twitter follower.

I begin following Twitter user to gain more followers. I have a guide on how to get followers on Twitter here.

Within a week period, I managed to gain 500 followers and it is still counting. Once I had reached 1500 – 2000 followers for my niche site Twitter profile, I will begin to research on ways to get traffic from Twitter.

6. Stop being lazy.

In fact, I should not use the word lazy here but since I am not working on my niche site regularly, I think the word lazy suits me.

One of my reason of not working on my niche site is I have some stuff to work on which is still related to internet marketing. I will announce it soon enough when I am ready but in the mean time, I will stick to the following plan for my niche site:

  1. Write guest post – I will try to do it at least once every two weeks
  2. Publish post on own blog – As mentioned, I attempt to do it weekly
  3. Social Media traffic – I had chosen Twitter to be my main source of Twitter traffic. At this stage, I am gaining followers and will plan for strategy to gain traffic once I have enough followers.

Finally

I had not gone through any major achievement for my niche site yet but I am still optimistic that the niche site will do well if I don’t go too hasty?
